We are the voice of the business community, working to shape economic policies, drive innovation, and support companies of all sizes.

AmChams in Europe

Since 2005, the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania (AmCham) is a member of the AmChams in Europe (ACE), the European Council of AmChams in Europe. ACE was established in 1963 and is an umbrella organization that brings together 44 AmChams, which jointly represent the interests of more than 17,000 American and European companies, employing 20 million employees and accounting for more than $1.1 trillion in investment on both sides of the Atlantic. ACE strives to communicate the importance of the transatlantic economy in both Europe and the United States.

The Chamber also accredits the American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams) all around the world. AmChams are independent, non-governmental business associations formed to advance the interests and views of U.S. business overseas, to uphold the highest standards of commercial practice, and to interpret the point of view of other countries to the American business public. Through AmChams, business people of the United States and host countries come together and promote their mutual interests.

Why join AmCham Albania?

Mission

The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania is a private, not-for-profit business promotion and development organization. Through its work and services, AmCham Albania seeks to build a better business climate, and to be the leading representative for U.S. and international business in Albania. Since its establishment in September 2000, the Chamber has worked to increase trade between the United States and Albania, to promote foreign investment in Albania, and improve the Albanian business image in U.S. and international markets. AmCham’s membership has grown steadily over the past decade, and now totals 220 active members representing the most productive and successful businesses operating in Albania.

Objectives

The main goals and objectives of AmCham are to develop mutually beneficial economic relations between the U.S. and Albania; to develop similar economic relations with Europe and other regions; to promote local economic development and make other contributions for the benefit of Albania and the Balkan region; to monitor U.S. legislation and policies that affect the competitiveness of United States businesses abroad, especially in relation to economic developments in Albania; to monitor Albanian legislation and policies that affect business and economic development; and to be an effective partner with and an intermediary between government, businesses, and the media.

AmCham provides a forum where U.S., international and Albanian businesses can network, look for business partners, and acquire vital information on specific business opportunities. It also provides an opportunity for international visitors who want to address Albanian business and political leaders. Through AmCham, member businesses are empowered to come together and work as a group to lobby leading politicians and government officials, and to influence the development of business-friendly policies, legislation and institutions.

AmCham considers the establishment of high standards of business conduct and integrity, and adherence to principles of good corporate citizenship to be one of its most significant goals. AmCham has taken an active and leading role in promoting business standards and principles, first, by adopting a code of business practices; second, by encouraging AmCham members to adopt and enforce the code of business practices.

AmCham Albania is part of the worldwide network of American Chambers of Commerce Abroad and since June 2003 is accredited with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington. In Albania, AmCham is member of the National Economic Council and Tax Council.
